Can anyone tell me if the Adobe Gamma programme is suitable for calibrating LCD monitors as well as CRTs.

I tried using it on my LCD but got a very funny effect. On the 3rd step for Gamma setting, I don't seem to be able to adjust the level till the centre square fade onto the patterned surrounding. :dunno:

Some advice appreciated.

Thanks!

This is the case with CRT or LCD. There's a little trick to this step. Try to blur your vision when looking at the square. It's a little hard to explain (and can't remember where i read this one), but basically squint your eyes and try not to focus on the textures of the squares, but just see the colours.

Also I always uncheck the single gamma option, so there's a red, green and blue square to set (not a single grey).

try to stand a distance away from the screen (abt 2m to 3m).... it will be easier
