Hi guys, just wondering where you guys send your leica lens/cam to get the alignment fixed?
i know some prefer to have their items sent to DAG et al. for CLA but for alignment where would you send it locally?

glass is practically new. it's the last 90mm cron pre asph. front focuses alot when used on my m6...

don't think it's the camera issuee because it focuses fine (enough) with my other lenses.

I think its just a minor job, so I just sent in my 90mm Elmarit to Chiif last saturday to get it aligned.. Mine front focuses on my M6 too :)

You try shooting some pictures mounted it on a tripod already bro?
Doing the infinity test work the best. You try shooting it at f2 and below?
For long lenses most of the blurred pictures are cause by human error
and people who wear glasses. Try shooting it with tripod wide open.
If all your pictures turn out off focus still? Than you send it for a rangefinder calibration. :)
Never compare lenses below 50mm to long lenses. Even a little tilt or shift at wide open.
Pictures are lightly to be off a bit. That's why sometime hand strap help!
Hope this help. :)

This is interesting (plus I didn't know Chiif did alignment too :))

I've never had any problem with 90mm (even 135mm), Leica or Voigtlander, on all my Leica bodies.

I was just reading about my new lens though, and came across this article about misfocus, and writer alludes that camera is to be adjusted, not the lens. I don't know, never had a problem with misfocusing on a Leica, or m4/3.

yeah i'm quite sure it's RF calibration. Was shooting something about 10m away but there was a fence about 2m away from me. The fence came out in focus...

Tried for a few other shots too where everything was very front focused. and infinity it was sharp enough for my uses.

chiif: who do you go to? i'd prefer to send it to someone with good rf experience to recalibrate as i'm sure this isn't an issue with slr cams.

Most technician can calibrate your lens with more conventional methods but if u require razor sharp calibration, Steven of camera hospital is one of the few people u can check with.
