Now even big company marketing department do this?! I thought it was l;imited to small companies.. if big companies do this I think I don't need to consider photography a serious job for me anymore

Corporate exploitation at it's best!
How excellent!

Won't get any more adidas products for sure. :thumbsd:

I think I will buy other brands of shoes next time.

Wow! A new level of exploitation. Well done! I've heard of CHEAP but this? This is beyond that.

Hi all,

I hope to bring to your attention that this is done as a programme for the runners, all photos taken will be for the runners to download at the website and not sold to them.

40 VOLUNTEERS for the community of runners.

Thank you all for being understanding.

I would say this a strategy rather than an exploitation..
More photogs more coverage..marathon route very long one..if split the $2000 to 4 professional photogs@$500 each..coverage may not be as good as 40 all over the place..and there will be a greater variance of shooting style..

Good opportunity for newbies..hopefully photogs will be given credits for pictures posted on site..

volunteers?????

give me the number to contact them, cos that is the bloody damn wrong word to use....

what would the runners think about the image of your company??

if the most photographers shows up with a PnS, or the photos looks like just learning photography for less than two weeks..

your company is doing a community project, not the photographers.

btw, my maid also know how to take photos and she has her own camera, can I send her there??

Hmm...Big company organising big event....... gets 'volunteer' photographers to benefit the participants....

For a marketing noob like myself, that equates to low overheads for excellent branding, marketing & promotions....sounds more like doing charity work at the expense of others.

It's an all-win situation for Adidas.
Excellent "I-volunteer-you" marketing strategy......now I gotta go brush up on my marketing skills.

Where did you learn marketing? I must go to the college that you've attended so that I can apply the skills in my own business.

Think about it ,, I have to agred with Fotodavid. it exploitation. !!!!!!!!

Thread is hereby closed and will be removed in due course. We consider this as exploitation of our members as the remuneration offered is miniscule compared to the absolute scale of the event and the requirements asked of the photographers.

In future, any organisers (commercial) who are seeking for volunteers (paid or unpaid) will need to contact us prior to posting a Services Wanted ad.
