On this pt, perhaps you can try turning on the "HD downconvert to SD" feature. This feature should affect the i-Link output. If your HDD recording device is connected via firewire, this may just do the trick. Then again, different cam has diff features...

On my Sony Z7, I can capture HDV m2t on the tape, and SD avi on the CF card concurrently. Of course I can also capture SD on both media concurrently, and HD on both media concurrently.

Hi Alternus

Thanks for the info. However, my XHA1 has on "HD downconvert to SD" all these while. I use this to downgrade the footages to SD when I transfer it out from tape via firewire to the PC. However, this setting seems to have effect only in playback mode and not record mode. Hence, when I check, the footages in DR60 was still HD instead of SD. So it seems that Sony and Canon has different way of handling down-conversion.

Maybe someone who is expert with both XHA1 and DR60 can help to advise on the right setting. Thanks.

Does the DR60 work with the Z7? I see the website like never mention...

The Z7 comes with the HVR-MRCIK (CF card recorder). Which latches on very nice to the back of the cam. You dun need the DR60. A DR60 attached to the top of a cam may perhaps make the entire setup un-ergonomic to handle for hand-held tracking shots (i.e. shaky footage).

I see...well recording to the CF card will make highlights much easier to do definitely...

Pity don't have the money to buy the Z7 now...

Basically Express Highlights are recommanded at least 4-5hrs. If have more time which also means more time to do color correction and effects :) if you just want timeline edit it will be much faster la :P with music and footage editing it will take 2 hrs.

1.5 hrs digitizing (if shooting on Tapes - tips digitizing the part you needed)
2 hrs Editing
30 mins color correcting
1 hr export and burn
30 mins travel

That's a pretty nice express you've done there...:)

u dun need to capture everything from the tape. you can always fastward and capture the part u want. You can also use eg. vegas to capture and premiere to edit at the same time. It can save u a lot of time.

That's true. If you shoot more than one tape can just capture the parts you want, but also very troublesome...

then go for tapeless solution. :P

Haha, that's where the money part comes in...:bsmilie:

just checked sony EX1 price yesterday. $8900 inclusive 1 free 8GB express card. 32GB version not available yet. ~~~

Yes the DR60 works with the HVR Z7. It even work with the Panasonic DVX!

I also selling new Firestore ( FS4 or FS100 ) can capture (18 hrs HDV & SD) or ( 4.5 hrs Panasonic P2 DVCproHD 100Mbits/sec ) with 12 mths Warranty .
