"In five years, the OVF will be past”

Wow, that is a bold statement! Sure anot?

Imho, Sony should not have discontinued the A700 without an upgrade path for its users.

LOL ! :bsmilie: ...reminds me of back in 1986 !!!

Minolta was saying that in 5 years time, all SLR will have Auto-focus ! ...everybody was laughing !!! ...even Minolta users (those with MF cameras and Rokkor lense)

5 years later, nobody's laughing as everybody's busy boasting how good their AF is ...I remember canon saying "Only the human eye focus faster" ! :bsmilie:

Yah, it's hard for early adopters to convince the mass when a new product is introduced, but given time, the one with the best implementation wins the war.

Technology has really improved leaps and bounds, especially in electronics.

Since when we see manufacturers churn out new TV models almost every month!!! Until so much that I don't even remember what features and functions to look out for.

So we have to accept that electronics has already creep into DSLRs or whatever gadgets we have and new innovations will always be introduced to make people buy and buy and buy....

I dun think these modern cameras and lenses can even last 3 years nowadays in terms of durability, let alone 6 mths if we are comparing features and updates.

But some stuff are just built to last ! ...I still have a Minolta 9000 from 1985 !

Dun play, Play ! ...the SLR still works fine ! ...only problem is finding 35mm film and a place to develop the prints !! :dunno:

Most pple are like pilots in a flaming plane, they're reluctant to leave the familiarity of the cockpit for the unknown of jumping out with a parachute and so would rather crash with the airplane ! ...the same with new technology.

No offence to anybody !

http://www.sonyalpharumors.com/sr5-...-with-a-completely-new-24-megapixel-sensor-2/

More rumors this time with new 24mp sensor that will do better in high ISO than current APS-Cs...
the website said "noise performance of the sensor is equal if not better than current 14-16 Megapixels Sony sensors", so it might not be too big of an improvement. and why do they have to make the sensors have such high megapixels anyway. cant they just make an average pixel sensor with stellar noise performance? afterall with the translucent mirror the camera is already losing some light. better iso performance would be great.

Yah i also hoped they stayed with 12mp and improve on the iso instead as seriously 12mp is already more than enough.

Probably i guess the iso performance of the current cmos sensor technology has reached its max capability and the only way is to increase the mp.
