That's why, some many years ago, a clever guy invented the tripod to continue low ISO with long shutter times.

Anyway, the high ISO discussion is highly exaggerated. Honestly, how many low light shots / high ISO shots do you have anyway?

concert photographers and other low-light event photographers will have tons of these shots.....

Sure, no 'rules' without 'exceptions'. But there is nothing really new under the sun. How do you think these shots were taken in the film days?

Besides, big concerts with massive lights can still be shot with an ISO 800 max using fast lenses. Done that many a times and never had issues with grain / noise. With the latter one, you can do alot software wise.

i would prefer the bionz processor's NR routine be much more improved (on the A700 is much improved in V4 firmware). sometimes you do really need to go higher than ISO800 to get proper exposure at higher shutter speeds.

well...there was a time when there were no cars.....people just walk, ride horses and stuff....why do they need to drive? the same reason why low-light photographers value high-iso low-noise cameras....

and the reason is "ease". sure we can do wonders with old technologies, but if we can do things better and/or faster with newer technologies, why not? likewise...if the new camera bodies offer better noise control at high iso, thus saving postprocessing time at the computers and allowing compositions in situations unthinkable, why not?:dunno:

also...u say concerts with massive lights.....what i was talking about are concerts with minimal lights....

there are no rules or exceptions anyway....
