If you buy the original Sony adapter (which cost around $400!), you can use Alpha mount lenses with auto focus function.
For all other lenses, it should be manual but with a great EVF, I don't think it would be a big problem. I have an adapter for k-mount so I can use all my premium pentax Limited lenses

So there would be different adapters for different brands? Sony one, canon one etc?

if u want to use Sony A mount lens , then u need to get the Sony LAEA4.
if use 3rd party lens (Leica, pentax, Canon, olympus, Minolta etc etc) , u will need to get the correct adapter .

you get it from their website, they charge 10-30sgd shipping fees depends on which shipping you choose.

I still enjoy shooting with A850 and never liked SLT as I thought Mirrorless will exceed it. I loved Nex 5N very much and A7r was natural upgrade choice.

with focus peaking manual focus is very easy.. so far for the e-mount via adapters, i am using the helios 44m and the takumar 400 and im only using those 3rd party adapters from china. and btw, im only using an a3500 with an inferior lcd and evf so it should be much more pleasant on the a6000.

Good to explore manual focusing. Your A6000 is using APS-C sensor with crop factor of 1.5. A 24mm lens will give you an image of 36mm. So which UWA legacy lens are you interested in? Factoring the crop factor, is that wide enough for you? With legacy lenses you will lose information like aperture and focal length from your exif image file. Will that irk you?

I'm using a Vivitar 200mm f1.8, Being a long manual lens, it is more ideal for stationary subjects like the moon or animals which are very still.

The tricky part about adapting ultra wide angle legacy lenses that become 'merely' wide on apsc is that they usually cost a lot. Somewhat like how much modern ultra wides cost today.

Hence I would suggest just getting the SEL1018 if you need something in that focal length. From an overall convenience, weight and cost reasons, it would make a lot of sense.

Tough.. old legacy lenses were made mainly for film and it is full frame format. You probably be better off sticking to native mount for UWA

i would agree the cost of legacy wide to ultra wide lens is about the same as native e-mount.. one other consideration though is if you are going full frame e-mount then those legacy say for example old 19mm full frame wide angle lenses which arent that much expensive would be worth looking at.. (you just have to pair it with a focal reducer/speed booster adapter which i think would benefit not only legacy wide lens but also prime portrait lenses for use on apsc size sensor).

Sony recently released a firmware update for their latest cameras including the A6000. Now mine at version 1.2. It mostly includes updates to support the new lens features but the release note also mentioned improved switch-on performance as well as image quality enhancements. Its a big update, so not sure why so little features covered.
