A6000

Are u guys buying sony or ziess glass for your a6000? Any other brands you guys are using or can recommend?

From a noob perspective like me, I would recommend Zeiss for your primary lens (prime for me) and Sony for others. Actually it depends on your usage and budget. You can have Zeiss for everything but if you seldom use it, it'd be a waste. You can also consider third party brands like Sigma, Tamron, etc although I dont have any experience with them like the others have here.

Anyone bought the a6000 kit recently? Can share the place u gotten and at what price and comes with what freebies?

I'm now primarily using the SEL18105G if I'm travelling or during street shoot. For landscapes, I will normally switch to the SEL20F28.

My SEL50F18 does not see much daylight (pun not intended), as I find the 50mm a bit too narrow to use it easily. It's quite a waste as its a great lens. Hopefully I will have the patience to master it in the near future. I do have a Vivitar 200mm f/3.5 manual lens that sees some use (attached via adaptor). It's a great lens. IQ is sharp with minimum distortion, considering the 200mm focal length. But being a long manual lens, you require a tripod and some patience to get your image right.

My untrained eye can't really see the difference CZ lens make, hence I'm not too prepared to spend that much on a CZ glass.

In terms of value, SEL50F18 is amongst the top. 50mm with APS-C is slightly narrow but with time, you can get used to it and is great for street and indoor photography. At least from my perspective. It never disappoints me so far

If I can say something about the battery drain problem from a nex6 perspective, I still encounter such problems be it with original or third party batteries when left in camera overnight or during the day. It makes a very obvious difference when I remove the battery when camera is not being used.

Same as me! I am now overseas and the 18105 stays on my cam for like 90% of the time. Love the Reach and handling of it. Used it for landscapes as the wideness is good enough for certain scenes. The Reach is excellent for streets too.

Thought I would toggle bwtn the 50 and this but hardly use the 50 at all Even during night.

Hmm one thing I know for sure def need 2 batts or more for full day shooting. Have to shoot conservatively too

Yeah man. I bought the third party batteries. Their capacity is not as high as the original ones but I can charge it in a separate charger and easily have more pieces with me .

Which third party batteries u bot?

I use sel 20 2.8 or sel 24 1.8 for day to day use, its great for social events and when u dont want to draw too much attention to the camera. 18-105 is more for overseas trips.

Any of you tried USB charging? How long does it take to full charge? Some website says it's around 8-9hrs?

It depends on the output of the USB port, there are huge differences.

Generally the larger powerbanks (> 5000mAh) will have higher output currents. Try to get those with 2.1A but avoid anything below 1.0A.
