What's the diff between gariz and the free sony case? I see gariz is v much popular..but $100 odd....think mayb I save this towards the 16-70... Hehe
Just left Sony wisma, sony care centre... They said SG no stock must b abt 2weeks... Told them there's a collection within 3-5 days, still they said SG no stock within 2weeks then have... Anyway... Those who want to get, do so now n order...
Mayb next time we have do do mass order from sony care, all will get, faster.
Differences:
- hole at the battery/memory card door for quick access.... good especially you prefer to take out your battery to be charged by external charger (I used mine provided with Nex5n). Also invaluable for when u r on trips and need to swap out batteries on the go.
- unique Griz design of the finger tightener at the tripod mount. Sony's one can only be used to finger tighten. Gariz's one can also be used as freely rotating "gun shot" attachment to any sling for quick shooting action
- real leather (Sony's faux leather)
- brushed metal steel bottom (classy)
- additional hole at the location of the mic... so allow sound and video unhindered
- additional tripod mount hole so that u do not need to remove the case to attach the tripod quick release plate. (Edit: sorry I think original sony also allow tripod installation)
Whether these improvements are important for you is pretty subjective.
For me it solves all the problem posed by the original Sony case.
Any idea what is the part number? I am sure internet can find the exact part... cost the same or cheaper delivered to the door step.
Btw just to check, what's the street price for sony 16-70? Taiwan selling $22800 convert low side of $900...I suppose our usual local retailers shld be able to match...will call them soon to check. .but thought i play around with my kit lens and 50mm first..![]()

Local price around 11xx
Ok this is pdaf result from Sony. It's a bit diff from nex 6. For nex 6, the first camera to feature pdaf, there is an option to turn it on and off. Turn it on, both AF-S and AF-C will have pdaf.
For A6000 case, it's diff. You have to select "Wide mode" and set to AF-C, that will be pdaf. A6000 AF-S doesn't support pdaf but both AF-A and AF-C will have.
In short, AF-A in A6000 is like AF-S in nex 6 while both AF-C is the same. To turn pdaf off in A6000, just set to AF-S.
And YES, I collected my hotshot and the A6000 look much better with the hotshoe on.
AF-S in A6000 only support CDAF. That's why A6000 have AF-A.
That's doesn't make a difference. AF-A simply makes the decision for you whether to use AF-S or AF-C. If it decides to use AF-S it will be exactly the same as switching to AF-S manually.
Yes, that's the one. But to them it's part s/n 443873402, shoe cap (875), NEX-EA50JHThe part name is FA-SHC1M. Based on nex 6. Not sure if they have a new part solely for a6000. Doubt so..since its the same. I also search already..and damn..It cost 20 odd bucks...so sony service centre is the only option.![]()
From the videos I've seen, the A6000 in AF-S mode support PDAF.
Else, how do u explain the fast AF Lock?
