wat's the main different btw a550 n a580 in terms of photography?

And A580 have movie mode. Better battery life too. Seems like an overall improvement.
Also, uses the new-generation sensor found in the A55, which is actually better than the older iteration found in the A33.

in terms of vid, i already hav a nex5, so it's a done deal for me.
i read up, a580 got 15AF pts, 3 more then a550, iirc.
use new and better sensor.
actually, i am choosing a 2nd cam, a DSLR, which has faster AF spd using A mount lens.
There's too little E mount lens and A mount on NEX is not fast enuff.
so thinking of get another cam for situation where i need faster AF, like portrait...
i dun really do sports, so the buffer n burst rate dont affects me too much.
and can share lens with NEX, A mount.
so i m considering purely on photography capabilities... vidz option is not a factor for me.
right now, is considering a used A550 or a new A580.

Both will be good... I used the A550 at F1, no problems, worked like a charm.

A580 will have slightly better iso performance esp 1600 and above.
It will have mirrorup function and dop as well which is missing on all a2/3/5 series.
If u dun shoot at iso1600 and up, then get the bargain A550 now.
A580 has 2 sec MLU (for tripod work) and DOF preview. Both missing in A550. A580 sensor is about 1/2 to 1 stop better at higher ISOs than A550. A580 can do contrast detect AF in main sensor liveview (A550 can't). A580 can record videos. A550 can't. A580 AF is faster/better than A550.
These are the major differences bewtween the two.

Take note that contrast AF can only be used on SAM or SSM lens only..
Faster AF is something i would like to hav... SAM or SSM is ok bcoz i wanna hav a common lens set for my nex also... keke..
for SAM 35mm n 85mm, got ppl says it's too slow on nex..
tat's y i considering getting another cam when i need faster AF.
in terms of the vid, live view... already enjoying tat on my nex.

Yes, tested the camera also. Can try Studio Zaloon in Pudu plaza. Last i ask was 2390.00 (MYR) for body only. But i got A55 instead
