I follow you on that but isn't the Photokina only every other year? Ie. the next date is September 2010 and I am not sure if Sony hardcore base wants to wait until then.

You did not say that .. What would be the first big event for Sony to make a major announcement? If they need such an event, after all the new 200 and 300 series landed out of the nowhere as well.
