my YN460 just arrived today.. don't really know how to use it yet since its my first flash.. but i did take 2 decent shots with it..
place is dark but turns out bright and white.. now i know how important flashes are..

yes thats absolutely right. a flash can grant you much more benefits that a lens upgrade. im so glad i got my flash before my lens upgrade.

Finally managed to find some time to sort out the pictures and upload them, ...was certainly a pleasure to go photo outing with you Michael, my family enjoyed having your company.
We should do this more often !

Here's my usual 'Bird head' trophies collection from that trip.

#1 Ostrich with lovey dovey look.

#2 Emu with naughty stare.

#3 Pelican with a very blur look.

#4 Smart a** Emu with straw in mouth

I use my A550 mainly in a few areas; insect macro/close-up with Tamron SP90, portrait from afar with Sony 70300G and low angle sea/landscape.

Here's an example of insect macro with the Tamron SP 90. The camera is light yet comfortable to hold makes it my choice of camera for macro.

f8, 1/160s, 90mmx1.5, ISO200​

Here's an example of portrait from afar with Sony 70300G. The sharpness & quick AF and convenience of zoom on the 70300G makes it a good combo for shooting portrait when one can't or doesn't want to be close to the subjects.

f5.6, 1/500s+0.3ev, 160mmx1.5, ISO250​

Here's an example of low angle seascape with 18-55mm kit lens. The flip out live view LCD makes it perfect for those low angle shots on the beach/ground when I go for sunrise/sunset shoots. The Live view MF also comes in handy for focusing under low light conditions.
