your 50mm would be good for lowlight handheld shots, otherwise using a tripod would be good too.
Seems like you're not really pushing the iso on your a550? all shot with pretty low iso

yes, but kinda restricted when i want to take wider shots, maybe the coming 35mm/f1.8 will suit me more.. haha..
yea, iso either 400/800.. lanterns are pretty bright already..

i dun intend to bring tripod out.. student here, don't drive.. very troublesome to carry tripod.. haha...shooting lantern i changed to F2.8.. non lantern all f1.8.

Hi everyone, I just got my A550, I wonder if everyone shoot with D-Range on or off ? Also the Vivid setting seem too strong and saturated when view on my computer, do anyone have that problem ? Thanks

On my LCD screen abit strong but on PC is slightly better. It depends on ur preference on color i guess.

For example this is shot in vivid. What do u think of the color?

D Range off during normal shoot. Shoot with D Range when ur subject turns dark due to the glaring background.

For example a person sitting indoor with glaring sunlight at the background.

Did you calibrate your Computer montior? normally those using Windows 7 you can calibrate your monitor. By default specially those LED monitor tend to be very agressive in color reproduction...

One way is to print a photo at A4 size (or half of it if you find a bit wasteful in ink) using a good photo printer then compare it to your Monitor... then adjust your video card setting e.g. brighness/contrast/saturation and gamma until both printed image and displayed on your monitor is almost exactly the same colot/brighnes etc....
