yes and it is bloody sharp too. when stopped down to f8. kinda regret it now i dont have a telephoto. i sold it to get a beercan, but havent been able to acquire a good condition one yet. maybe i should save somemore and get myself the 70300G?

the 70300G is heavy and huge... i saved up for it then further consideration... didn't get it... the hood is useful.. but make the lens too long for my liking. :dunno:

i dont really mind the size. 70-300 is quite a good range and large size is really not an issue... the tamron 70300 USD is also about that size? but the sad thing is that i dont know when it is ever gonna be released for sony mount.

I must say I am very happy with the results of A550+18-55 kit lens. Having decided to drop the heavy body and lenses which are what I used to carry for those photography trips, I went with A550+18-55 kit lens and Sigma 12-24+Sigma 28-300 lenses for my recent Middle East trip. The kit lens stayed on the body for more than 75% of the time and especially times when I needed that extra help from the use of filters (12-24 has no front filter thread) and 28-300 just can't make it except for that desparate need for reach. While I was initially prepared for the worst, the photos turned out pretty decent in terms of colours, sharpness, contrast, etc, less my compositions of course...that's the man behind the equipment in this case :) While the camera is not the top range offer of Sony's line-up and the kit lens is afterall a kit lens, the result is very acceptable in my opinion as long as one knows and uses it within its limitations. Seeing is believing, take a look here

Here's a 'lokang' photo to share. :bsmilie:

LOL ! :bsmilie: ...No filter, no PP ! ...just a shot at the reflections off the flowing water in a lokang at Tiong Bahru.
Had to walk up and down the side in order to find the perfect angle.

...looks like water painting anot ? ;) (photo is actually upside down)
