Bestcam was quoting $1257 (price inclusive of GST + 1 GB CF card) at end Dec 2004. Price could have dropped further. A200 available at a number of other shops for $1190 in Dec 2004 also.

wait for its price to drop further.....hehe ;p

I'm more incline to A2's specs. But I'm not sure about the difference in quality between A2 and A200.

looks like the A200 suffers false focusing and noise level is still high in higher ISO. CA seems to be better than the A2 though. the others i don't think there's much diff from the A2 other than the physical interface.

Dpreview has review on A200 + lots of discussion in KMTForum. General impression is that A200 has better in-camera processing & gives better images straight from camera compared to A2. No difference when shooting in raw. Also official word from KM Japan on whether lens has changed from 7Hi to Ax series.

the A200 has the same processing chip as the 7D too, so definitely images are better than those coming out of the A1 & A2. The samples below are taken from DPreview sample gallery.

As you can see those 100% cropped photos, A200 wins the A1/A2 hands down a lot because of the new processing chip.

The EXIF infos are still intact.

Can you explain further?

Cheers!

I purposely picked out photos that shows human faces among the 3 sample galleries. Upon all the 100% cropped photos, it is obvious that A200 samples showed clearer and sharper faces and less ISO noise. Maybe that's because of ISO 50?

The new CxProcess™ III image processor obviously had done better manipulation than the A1 & A2.

I don't think you should infer anything from the photos as they are shot in different settings and conditions.

Cheers!
