read from "Amateur Photographer" review that the AF on "low contrast" is poor.
can anyone enlighten me exactly what kind of environment constitute such a background?
Will the MF be able to quickly rectify such a situation?

Hi actually... i had some experience with low light focusing... At aperature of f=2.8 and shutter speed is 1/3.. and the there is a lot of yellow light... You will have this problem.. The manual focus will b able to rectify it.. The A1 is powerful... it will switch to a "night mode " for you to focus and use the camera

k...
seems that it is indeed a very features pack set..
in fact the rave about this is its long lists of what it can do....
considering that if you dont need a interchangable lens Dslr..this is indeed one of those "high up there" prosumer set.

but not even one comprehensive full-review out there yet...sigh.
i wonder why. :dunno:

HI think steve digicams has done a in-depth review

Yup agree, it is still quite brief. But, nothing beats playing with it :)

The big problem is the price.

yeah. really 'itching' to get A1. but price is a bit high (for me). anyone noes where can get best price? or anyone selling 2nd hand? :)

HI what is the minimum price you look at ??
got to have a minium ah :P

if I am not wrong CP now selling A1 at 1.5k.

yeah saw bargaincity selling about 1530. my budget is about 1500 too. however, a spare battery n a couple of filters will mean more $ :(

can someone roughly lemme noe how much an additional batt, a uv filter & a cir pol filter will cost me?

btw, anyone wanna buy a sharp zaurus linux pda for $350? :D wanna raise more fund for my A1 :D warranty till 2004. wif leather case.

So far didn't see anyone selling 2nd hand. Remember bargain city is before GST. Need to add that. Spare batt can wait lar. UV depends on what you want, $30 for the minolta one. Cir Pol will cost more, but can wait also.

sorry OT alittle...

there is one UV cum Cir Polariser from Hoya rite (49mm thread)?

any idea abt the price for tt.

A1 still no price shift....?
thought there is quite a downward impact.
(especially in europe after the Dpreview analysis).

the wave is always slow to reach our shore...sigh.

Does the conclusion of DPReview put a downward price pressure on A1? Have it ever occured to any cameras? :dunno: No idea leh. But image resource give highly recommended for A1. Mixed conclusions so people will have to evaluate the camera him/herself.

There was a sudden drop in price for A1 1-2 weeks back due to the increase competition from 300D. I would say now is quite a good time to buy. when I first ask CP for price of A1, it was 1.65k but now only 1.5k. see the impact. and the price drop was even before the posting of the review on A1.

potential buyers have to judge it themselves. :blah:

Hiee....

I dont think so DPreview results have any impact on the pricing. They are just a review site.......Pressure from 300D maybe...

300D and A1 is not in the same league and build quality....

BTW.....i got mine below 1.58K i think... with GST at launch period...so i think it depends on luck too.

SO anywhere about 1.5 to 1.6K is the right price depend on the service you get...

Its worth the money......and you can make do with 1 battery for awhile...

rgds,
me

hi sulhan,

I also got my set at the same place as you. but at that same time CP was quoting 1.65k so I presume that the current price of A1 at the place we bought it should range around 1.4-1.5k. My guess only. :dunno:

Did/can anyone compare the shutter lag of the A1 vs 5060? Which is faster? :D

sorry cannot comment on that as I have never handled 5060. Not many people can answer this question. A possible place is to go to digital camera review website and find the shutter lag of both cameras seperately and compare. :embrass:
