My base photomatix settings:
Strength: 50
Color saturation: 60
Light smoothing: 2nd button from the left
Luminosity: 0
Microcontrast: +2
Micro-smoothing: 2
Rest: Default

Adjust the strength, light smoothing and luminosity accordingly, depending on the image and what you want to achieve. After you're done with photomatix, you need to tweak the contrast in PS using levels and curves. But take note, not all scenes are suitable to be HDRed.

FYI, not all the images posted are processed in photomatix or HDRed. Some are blended together using a couple of different exposures or using the photomatix image and blend it with the originals.
