[] A Quiet Summer Day...

Hopefully, one day will get to shoot with you :p

:bsmilie:

Reply to pm from zhenghao..

Hope you don't mind that I reply in my thread cos it's easier to make reference to the pics in order to answer your question.. ^^

First of all, I am using 5D mk2 with 85L and 35L for the shoot.
Posting #1 to #3 are mainly taken with 85mm
and Posting #4 + first 2 shots of #5 are taken with 35mm

Lights wise I am using a wireless transmitter ST-E2 with a 580EX.
Lambency diffuser are used on the flash..

In terms of positioning of external flash, as I am shooting alone without tripod, I just place them on the floor/grass not far away from the model to fill in the shadow areas..

For example:
original.jpg

for the pic above, I guess you can tell from the hotspot that the flash is place on her left (to the viewer's right)..

for the above pic, you can probably tell from the shadow on her fringe and her nose tip that the flash is placed in front of her, firing up..

similarly, for the one above, it's place on her right firing up as well..

Hope these helps.. :)

Thanks for sharing bro. Got a few more questions :P

Do you discuss the theme with your model before the shoot? Or do you just go with the flow and pick/process your pictures to the theme your shots bring out? Somehow, the way you shoot brings out a 'story' that not many others can do. It is definately not the words you put in the pictures, becoz I don't read them. :bsmilie:

I did discussed abt the outfit, hair style, location and feel that I want before the shoot, but I hv not met the model b4 so dont really hv a concrete idea of what the output will be like and how I will present it in the end..

During the shoot, while I chat with the model I start to know more of her background, other than making her more relax, these info has also help me to come up with some ideas of how I want to present the series.

Some of the misc pics are not taken on the same day thou, e.g. the shots of the kites were actually taken a week before this shoot, when I joined a group shoot taking part at the same location. I was a bit bored back then and started shooting other things that may be useful for decoration of future series.. :bsmilie:

So I won't say the story line is fully planned b4 hand.. need some enlightenment and 灵感 sometimes..

This series feels really nice and peaceful. The kind of photos that make you smile even after a bad day haha. Wonder when I can achieve this level of skill
