The place almost similar to the place we go like Varanasi.... the mood was there..
Yea but try giving the VISA card - platinum or otherwise and you shall be either met with a blank stare or worse abuses. ;p Of course the worst would be the guy smile like the one in ad and never return with your card. :cry:
By the way the place in the ad is the state of Rajasthan if I'm not wrong

Srini: Thanks. Took a few pic posting as tourist.. haa haa.. Must find time to print them out too.. Basically, R and myself are each other "tourist photographer". I posed, he take. He posed, I take.. hee hee But maybe we concentrate too much on taking "photographer's pic" and didn't really took a lot of "tourist's pic". Less than 10 I think.
We proceed to brunch after leaving Taj Mahal. I am quite disaapointed that the ticket is only per entry and not per day. If anyone wanted to take both sunrise and sunset, you got to pay twice.. Sianz...
Unless you are so hardcore that you still inside the whole day.. haa haa.. But food could be a problem. We didn't see any stalll selling drinks or food.
Clean resturants are quite easy to find in Agra.. Not sure who is it.. But somebody from the group compare it to "Sentosa of India".. haa haa Agra is the place most tourists will go when they visited North Inida, I guess. **Think I am repeating myself again**
After a short rest, we made our way to Agra fort aka red fort. We bargain for a cheap rickshaw to Red fort. It's can be rather cheap but we have to visit some shops again. I believe they earn some commision thru these and we are to remain in the shop for at least 10 mins.. If you do not want to visit these shop or have time to do it, be clear to the driver before the trip.
During 1 of the earlier shop-visit, we stayed for exactly 10 mins and the driver was unhappy as he can't claim his commision.. Can't really blame us cos he told us 10 mins mah.. Singaporean.. Very follow rules one.. 10 mins means 10 mins.. On the contary, some of the bigger shops are pretty worth a visit.. Almost like a musuem... But the item on sale is too exp for me to buy anything.. Just look look, no harm..
When we reached the Red fort, it's mid day and lighting are not too good for photography.. Well, we make do.. Remember to bring the ticket from Taj mahal. One of it allowed 150 rupee discount. All brought it except me.. Left it in the hotel..

Yeah, the ad was based in Jodhpur, Rajasthan.
Spend quite a while dazing at the courtyard in red fort. Watching the world goes by.. Probably tired with all the travelling, train ride and rickshaw.. hee hee
Met the resident squirrel.. hee hee They are not afraid of strangers or their camera. I think they are being fed quite fat with the nuts or tibits the visitor brought.

We have enough of train ride as the last few was not too comfortable..
We booked a cab from Agra to Delhi for next morning as R insisted to set off very early.. Not really sure about the reason but we have not objection.
We wanted to took the back of the Taj Mahal but we need to cross to the other side of the river. We reckon it will be a long ride if we are to take a rickshaw and we found out from the hotel owner that there is a boat ferry operating at the river.
We walk along a small track beside the Taj from the east gate and it took us about 10 mins to reach the river, which is very dirty and black.. hee hee.. What a contrast to the Taj.. Z and myself had actually recce on the previous night and we did check and confirmed that there is a ferry operating across this river..
When we reached the river, the fee we are quoted to cross the river is ridiculous.. If I remember correctly, it was 1400 ruppee for 4 of us to cross.. The river was less than 50m max. And, I think he didn't state "return".
If it is not so dirty and smelly, I actually consider "walking" over.. You can actually see this river in the pics redoxsim posted. *Not providing the link.. hee hee search it yourself**
Only managed a half decent shot without crossing the river. Well....
We woke up very early to travel the car to delhi. We left even before we see the first light. We paid about 1800 ruppee with all tolls included. So, it really tell you how high the price the backyard_of_Taj boatman tried to charged us. The whole group was in hibernating mode all the way from agra to delhi.
The driver did stopped for breakfast when we are quite near to delhi. Again, the shop charged a very high price about 40 rupee (Sing $1.40)for a coffee *More exp than our kopitiam** .. Due to the high price, we didn't ordered much. But i cave in and order a french toast for 130 ruppee. :sweatsm:

After we have reached Delhi, we search for a hotel where we can leave our belonging for half a day as our flight is a night flight.
We have to argue and bargain with the hotel owner that we are not staying for the night and we only needed 1 room for the 4 of us.. In the end, we didn't get much discount and have to pay the full price for 1 day stay..
Delhi is a very modern city. Not much different from KL or Singapore CBD. We have our first KFC at delhi. Z was forgetful and left his lens pouch at KFC after the meal!! He only realised after we are in the MRT station. He immediately rush back to KFC which is a good 10-15 mins walk away. Luckily, the staff was kind and honest enough to keep it for hi,.. Imagine what he has gone thru while rushing back to the resturant. So, remember to check your table before leaving. Always.
We went to the museum which have quite collection but the camera fee is 300 ruppee which none of us wanna pay.. So, all of us "check-in" our camera again.. Seem like this camera check in thing is quite common here.. hee hee
I am a bit concerned cos the visitor can actually touch some of the display with their hand.. Some have visible stain due to this. R later assured me that he think most are replicas.. haa haa..
We visited the India Gate but it was all blocked up due to the coming Republic day. Security are rather tight as we can't get anywhere close to it.
Getting a motorised rickshaw to let 4 of us squeeze into one is more difficult in Delhi. Probably, due to the stricter law or enforcement here. Those that are willing to take 4 of us asked for a rather higher price.
We chance upon a "sweet" store at Khan's market that sell lots of Indian desset. Very good looking. Sort of remind me of those Japanese dessert. Although the taste of cinnamon is a bit overwhelming. They are so good looking that I bought a box of it. The rest of the group also bought some but so far I only know L finished all of it.. I throw quite a bit of it after storing it 3 weeks in teh fridge.. Talk about implusive buying.. ha ahaa

We had our last meal in India at a revolving resturant. Should be Parikram resturant which is located at 24th storey. Quite a nice view and the food is quite tasty and not overly expensive.

that's sharp. mine is blurred and i think i didn't try hard enough. you got that at f/2.8 without flash?

no, i think it is my fault for not trying hard enough to stabilise in low light. 1.8 is good enough. extra money to put on would prefer to wait for newer bodies and current accessories, or maybe just save for travel. i'm waiting for a light body with as much control as D200 and as big a viewfinder, also for a light lens that is sharp and f/2.8. half hearted towards D200 and 17-55mm DX f/2.8. so see how things goes....
lol...sounds like a d80 with tamron 17-50/2.8 lens? :think:

2 big boxxes given away (for the guy who lend us his walkie talkies) and the 5 boxes that I bought for myself, errh...I finished it all within 4-5 days...very yum yum.
R even passed me his boxes that he cannot finish...I finish in one go ....

Wow! I'm speechless. All I can say is that those are really nice travel photographs you got there. I enjoyed reading your story too. It seems that the four of you had a lot of fun.
