*** A Collection of my Feathered Friends *** [madmartian]

Hot from the press.
Today is a fateful day for this lovely Red-whiskered Bulbul  I was going for lunch & while walking past a school, I heard a nice sweet call of a bird & I started looking out where the call was coming from. I looked up & around but the sound seem pretty close to me. Then I looked ahead where the fence was, right in front of me was this RWB on a small tree just below eye level.
I stood there for awhile to admire it because I think it was rare to see this bird in my area.

Then I moved in for a closer look & I thought it would fly off but it didn't. I was only 1 mtr from it. Wanted to whip out my phone to take a record shot
of it but seeing the fence is in the way, I gave it a miss & walked away.

After lunch which was around 3 hours later, I tried to look for the bird at the same place I last saw it but it wasn't there. Upon reaching my house which was about 500 mtrs away from the 1st sighting, I looked up a tree & to my surprised, it was perching on the tree! So I hurried upstairs to get my gears I thought by the time I get up & set up & get down, then bird will be gone but it was still up on then tree. Wanted to take some shots but the bird was backlit & the branches were swaying all over due to the strong wind. So I waited for it to fly lower & also hope that the wind will stop blowing.
Then it suddenly flew off and landed across the car park which I followed on & started shooting. Prior to that when it landed near the car, I saw a cat was hiding under the car. So I was wondering what attracted the bird over :dunno: & actually it was toying with death as it flew over. I moved abruptly round the car in order to scare off the cat but I guessed the cat has got an agenda for hiding there .

Sorry for the long write up as I feel I have to write this because it all happened right before my eyes! :o

So here's the story................

I thought curiosity killed the cat, but in this case, it was the other way around

At the end, the bird is in the cat's mouth (pic #89-91) then into the stomach :(

Nice shots, MM, but sad ending.

Nice catch, for you and the cat. Too bad for the bird though...

poor bird. I suspect the cat already gotten his partner and this one is trying to rescue (with your help may be:dunno:) . but ....

Not sure if there were two of them but I only saw one & I think it's the same one. But really don't know why it flew to the car & started checking out the car.
As soon as the bird jumped behind the back tires, the cat just snatched it instantly. It all happened so fast.
RIP to the birdie :(
It's just so sad to see the bird gone while shooting it
