It was striking when I first saw it. It still is.

Good work like the rest of your images.

I didn't think it was horrible at all, just lacking a story - something I had to keep reminding myself of!

This is inherently flawed as a portraiture. Suggest you go back to the fundamentals to work out the conceptual flaws. You have attempted to use the light color lines to lead the eye to a less than side profile of a face. Nice idea with the line bad idea with the position of the face. The lines may in them selves be too strong.

i dunno abt the others man, but if u took a shot of me like that, i think that its pretty damn cool!

another piece that i like from u man marc :)

marc.....
you have nice tone photo
but i dont quite understand the point of the interest of the photo
anyway, from other point of view, i like the angle you take the pic

cheers'

if he's looking at you...then it's THE SHOT to me.

the strips go with river, that's nice.

well, 'horrible' or not, there's no fairness involved, it's an opinion in an open forum. if one chooses to express a feeling without giving reason in an open forum it is one's right to do so.

Exactly as you've said eikin. OK since some of you folks has requested more elaboration, I will oblige.

To me, a good picture be it any genre has to charm the viewer and grab their attention. It's either "Wow!", "ho-hum" or "Ughhh..."

Since it's in B&W, the major flaw is that there is no proper separations of tones. I only see grey and more greys. The contrast needs some working on be it trad/digital darkroom.

Yes, do invoke the mind of the audience. Sense the meaning or message behind the photo, but in this case, I could sense none.

If it is trying to show the b&w then the aim has already been achieved,. :)
