A Beautiful Night At Marina.

Hi mingzheng. Thank you. Sure no problem.
For this 4 shots the shutter speed I only set it at 10 secs for the not so blur water effects. ISO 100, apperture f/4 & focal length at 17mm.
If you want a more blur and smooth water effects you can set it on longer shutter speed eg. 20-30. Which I can show you on my next few photos. Cheers!

Hi sir,

i m amaze by your sharpness of your pic with your setting, especially your aperture at f4 to achieve this sharpness is amazing
Just a few question to ask.
1) did u post process your pic above ?
2) did u set your camera to auto focus or manual focus ?

Nice to meet you Lawrence.
Many nice pics you have, the above my favourite .. thanks for sharing.

Hi Engta nice to meet you on the shoot session. And thanks for liking my photos. Hope to shoot with you again. How was your shoot at Tampines Mall?

did you use hyperfocal method for your landscape ? can you tell me how you make your picture so sharp ?

Hi DigitalAnders. I did not intentionally use hyperfocal method for my shots. I just use shutter speed priority on 17mm focal length. I'm really surprised by the sharpness of this Sigma lens on my EOS 60D.

Hi BigBaby Bro,

I'm just a newbie in photography. I have taken some picture at MBS as well. But i found out that my picture were not as sharp and colorful as yours and a little underexpose. My setting focal length at 18mm, Shutter speed 5 secs, aperture 3.5, ISO 800.

The question i were about to ask are:
1. Is the shutter speed more longer will affect your picture brighter/colorful?
2. Will the UV filter affect my picture during night photography?

Hope you or anyone could give me some advice on this. Thank you. :)

For me I prefer longer shutter speed like 20secs and above. And keep my ISO to 100.
I took my shots with the UV filter on. But some prefer to remove the UV filter. At your own preference.

AMAZING pictures...can i ask u guys what is VR and HYPERFOCAL?

thanks for the answer...noob lah sorry hor..

Thanks yongmeng81 for your compliment. VR means Vibration Reduction for Nikon lens. It is also known as Image Stabilization.
As for Hyperfocal it is quite lengthy to explain it here all in text. It is better for you to read out from Google search to understand it better.

Thanks Ahtim78. I was quite surprised myself on the performance of the lens and body when I just bought it and try it out.
I did post process a bit on my photos. Just edit the brightness and contrast that's all. Didn't touch on colors and sharpness.
I was using auto focus.

Hi Alan. Congratz on your new 60D. It's a great cam I can say.
I'm also learning everyday. :) I'm more than happy to share some tips.

just to point out. the timing has to be right for shooting that late at night. if the skies are totally dark, it'll be difficult to expose the buildings properly, especially the darker ones. the brighter ones will be overexposed, while the darker ones underexposed, and then some with good exposure.

just like TS' shots, the clouds reflected light onto the buildings. the skies were brighter too.

if you want the lights on the buildings to be on, especially the office lights, go on a weekday. chances are, if you're shooting on a weekend, the lights in the office buildings will be switched off.

Hi, im a newbie here in photography, just want to ask if you are shooting mbs, what is the best time to shoot at it without the overexposure thing? Also i noticed that some shoots in helix bridge dont have people at all! That's so hard to do because so many people are passing by there, what time do we need to shoot at helix? I think they are turning off the lights at midnight, or am i wrong? Thanks in advance

your photos are so so so so so much better than mine )=

Wanted to get a 60D and TS photo makes me even want it more.

with slow shutter speeds, the slower it gets, moving subjects disappear.

best timing? if you want an even exposure... then when it's bright and sunny :D

but if you want the colors in the sky, wait for the buildings to be even in lighting (sunrise) when the lights are off. or near sunset.

it's not the camera. it's the user that matters. you can have the best camera but no foundation, and your shots will still be mediocre no matter how much you shoot.
