I own both lenses
ZA 85/1.4 and ZA 135/1.8
Zeiss 135/1.8 is sharper than ZA 85/1.4
Using ZA 135/1.8 on Alpha 900 is really fun!
Here are some samples from A900 + 135/1.8
I think the 85mm is the versatile piece on the APS-C sensor - and you don't have to stand as far back as compared to the 135mm, which can really drive you all the way back into a wall in order to just frame somebody in.
I have minolta version of 135mm f2.8, 85mm G f1.4, and 50mm f1.4.
Before digital camera days:
I get the 135mm first, a lot cheaper than 85mm.
The bokeh is the best for 85mm. One of the lens that I used most for portrait, mainly for soft, blur background effect.
During the digital camera day now:
The 50mm f1.4 is purchase for KonicaMinolta 7D as close emulating as "portrait" lens at 1.5 crop factor for closer distance between camera and subject.
Most of the time I used 85mm and 50mm. The 135mm is a bit too far from the subject even at out door for my liking.
Thx guys for the replies :bsmilie:
Great pics you have digitalxd1!
135mm is really too long for my liking but I've eyed the
STF for a really long time, just went to Sony to ask about
repairs of Minolta film cams and they said they can do it:sweat:
At least that's another option before I can afford the Alpha 900 in future:sweatsm:
I've narrowed down my choices to the STF with either the Zeiss 85mm or 70-200G
