5 years to retain the colour and 7 years for the chair to last as claimed by the staff answering MM.

I don't know whether the manufacturer guarantee these claims.

Thanks

Hehe

The place I work in has Herman Miller chairs everybody right down to temps. They are great to sit in and definitely much better than the awful cushioned ones I had in the past. If the cost is high, but comfortable, then why not? But if the chairs can last XX years because no one wants to sit in them, then it's a waste of money.
Dun remind me.

I get such a gawddamned backache each time I sit in my office chair for a prolonged period. And hell, I'm not even 45yrs old to begin with!

These darn Herman Millers are so comfy, my wife will eat, work and sleep on them! You don't happen to work in Shell, do you? ;p

Not surprise that you use Apple product... I may be wrong...

I don't see how using an Apple product correlates to the topic at hand.

The pros of using the $800 chairs outweigh the cons of not having them.

If they have these chairs instead of the rickety creaky cheap office swivel chairs in the labs, I will stay and work in Uni till late :bsmilie:

Sorry i saw your avatar... Most of the products are of very high quality just like when you say Volvo, you think of safety!

The iMac I saw... I wish that I have the spare cash to buy it!

so... this news of 800 dollars chairs will be spread around aviation industry liao..

One way to see is how long the staff who said that gets to stay at his job.............

Cherry QQ cost $30k, Mini Coopper cost almost $100k......both can travel from point A to point B, the premium for brand and quality is always there
that is horrible logic

i suggest you go ride a cherry qq and tell me whether you feel like buying it, finishing and looks aside

the car feels very rickety, like a pack of cards. now imagine if those pack of cards fall apart

a better example would be a toyota versus a same-sized bmw, perhaps

i can throw this back at you - those cheap cheap china brand camera costs maybe $120 for 10 mgp.. dslr costs a few k for 10 mgp.. both can take pictures, the premium for brand and quality is always there

I paid for close to $1k for one seater armchairs from Davinci and they just starts to peel off after 1-2 years..... throw one away after 1 year, the other throw away after 2 years.....

I think cheap synthetic ones will last much longer. price is not really a good determination how long something will last.

...leather one right...

my family bought one, and i was made to continuously take care of it when i was younger.. got what moisturising lotion, etc

lasted for about 7 to 8 years, then we moved and it just went

you never ask the salesman how to take care of it :nono:

Are the chairs open to public use?

i think in singapore, most chairs have their lifespan cut short by at least half.
Even those tough kopitiam plastic chairs won't last long by singapore's standards
Even if its a square block on concrete...probably kena sit until round. haaa

Either overused till disrepair or one fine day they disappear and kena replaced by something else silently overnight. :bsmilie:

Some new CEO/boss/MD/VC comes in and say, "I don't like this, change it!"..... So what if it last XX years? Will the current CEO/boss/MD/VC last XX years? ;p

Happened before.. May happen again... Unfortunately money don't drop from the sky.. It's comes from us tax payers... Maybe we drop from the sky.... ;p

I think with modern manufacturing processes, durability and design can be had for well under $800 a pop.

IMO, airport authorities too loose with the purse strings.

...more like no school today... =D

Damn! I envy you. Which of the London Unis are you in? All my former house-mates are either started working or in their final year in London unis
