It's not. The really fast one is the 2 ring AF-n D version.

Yeah the diff is there but you get better speed and the convenience of a tripod collar which will be very useful if you're shooting on a mono or tripod. This is from my own experience anyway :)

ya but my previous 80-200mm do not come with a tripod collar......i know that too.......

Then why wait??? Go grab the tripod collar version!!:D

no money now la.......end of the month liao......must wait for my pay day...:(

I bought an AF non-D version for $590 about a month or two back. It's really hard to use the camera on a tripod in portrait format because the lens is so heavy. I think I'd much prefer the forward balance point of a tripod collar...

Is it feasible to make a tripod collar ?
Use one of those bracket thing which they use to fasten water pipes....of cos get more sturdy one
Go to one of those light industrial estates and get someone
to weld base with hole & screw thread....

The problem is there isn't much place to secure the "collar".. By weilding anything to the lens... You will be devalueing it. Might have problem selling it off in the future.

Not really advisable...

Like they said... there is a 3rd part tripod collar. that hold it.. Look a bit like those fuse holder... Not sure if readily available in S'pore.

do a yahoo search on "Kirk EZ360 tripod bracket".

If I remember correctly, the Kirk costs abt S$200 at CP. Why not spend a little over S$200 in your budget for the non-tripod collar version to get the tripod-collar one?

Faster speed, better handling, no 3rd party parts to cause any incompatibility.

true......why bother.....just get the collar version.....but then hor......no money....

NSS available in few days' time kekeke :bsmilie:
And year end bonus coming too

mmm......i dont hav much NSS plus my co very neow one...where got year end bonus....dont even hav any medical or dental.......benefits....
