limwhow: here is a seagull shot using a "dark" DX camera. No sharping, cropping etc. It is furtile to resist the force.

Wow. Good shot. Nikon's latest crop offering a proven hit. Sometimes I lament a full frame lacking the extra reach.

Kernik, this is one of the reasons why I find the 1.3x crop factor of the 1DMkIV so attractive.
When we all go to Safari next year I will be the one laughing hahahaha when I can reach the lion head easier than the boys in Black...
But honestly Canon needs to catch up with the latest range of Nikon glasses.
The Black 70-200 VR II plus the new Nikon 2.0x TC is a lethal combination.
I will get fired by the Canon camp for saying this but the White 70-200 MkII cannot hold a candle to its Counterpart in Black.
The Canon 2.0x TC is a saving grace. Thanks to Cecil.
I personally feel that the resolving power of the White lenses let down the magnificent Canon sensors at the moment.
Let's be patient and wait for the Battle of the Seagulls to arrive then let's all have some fun.
I am also very keen to see how it is.
My that one single shot of the seagull with 1.4x TC is sharp enough for me lah..
I am not complaining.

Daoyin, you shot of the seagull with your Black Machine is magnificent.
Whew!!!! Thanks for making me turn in my sleep! Hahaha...

Wah, Cecil you managed to capture the cat just as it cleared the loop.

Like the position of the seagull against the backdrop of blurred crisscrossing boats. Something dreamlike about it. Reminds me of the poem "Ancient Mariner".
