7D pricing

Yup.... pricing is within most people guesses... it will be around $2500+ Street Price.

But yet.... would Newbies Photopgrapher be interested in getting a Crop Frame Camera (7D) over a Full Frame Camera (A850) for no more than around $200-$300 ??

the newbie needs to understand why he needs the 7D or A850. or why he should use a canon or sony. if he doesn't, doesn't matter what camera he picks.

True....

Pricing and availability
The EOS 7D body and kits would be available at all Canon authorised dealers at the following recommended retail prices.

EOS 7D Body: S$2,699 (available early October)
EOS 7D Kit (EFS18-135 IS): S$3,249 (available early October)
EOS 7D Kit (EFS 15-85 IS USM): S$3,849 (available early November)

Early Nov? Sigh... still a long wait....
Can't wait for the review on the 15-85mm. ;p
Hmm... tough choice between 17-55 and 15-85... any advice from fellow CS members if I mainly focus on scenery shots?

10-22. :)

It should be noted that Canon US list price is equal to retail price at B&H, Adorama, Amazon etc. They no longer differentiate between RRP and market price, unlike Singapore
So true. If only Canon would do the same... that may take the guessing game out of the picture. That way, some of us won't feel "cheated" if somebody gets a better deal (price wise etc) elsewhere (i.e. bargaining power being not equal).

:Later,

Hi, 7D can be used with AFS or EF lenses. A850 has lesser noise on FF and higher ISO and gives UWA focal length without cropping. 24MP gives more cropping of image.

i think the a850 has more noise than the 7D and lower useable iso range. it makes a great camera for good light photography though.

Each has it's own benefits, only issue is that Sony lens are highly priced and the range of selection are limited at this point of time. Else FF is the much better choice IMO.

I'm looking forward to the 7D, it's a mini 1D mk iv for a small price tag.

24MP needs alot of HDD space! I dun usually like to crop the pictures, I'd rather try to get the composition right than having to crop.

HDD is very cheap when you compare to the price of good lens and/or camera.

A 1TB SATA HDD cost no more than $130 at SLQ (just got one 1month ago).... what is $130 when compare to a L lens or a FF camera....

Which 'affordable' Sony lenses do you plan to purchase with the A850? :bsmilie:

Also, high ISO on A850 is so awful that it's not even worthy of a FF sensor.

The Nikon D700 is a far better bet.

Have not bought A850 yet as do not have any 'affordable' Sony lenses.
Have many old Contax Carl Zeiss lenses. Cannot use on Nikon.
Only hope is Canon have a more 'affordable' FF body.
Thought 7D is the one, but ......:dunno:

I am quite disappointed when some of my frz always say, shoot 1st, later go back crop!!! alamak....

Sorry to TS... but I'll OT abit here... don't want to start a new thread. :embrass:

Was surfing around and ended up at one of the many Canon Preview/Review site... while looking at the photos of 7D with the new Canon EF-S 15-85mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM Lens... I notice something strange  It has a SILVER Ring instead of the usual 'Broken' Golden Band that is a sign that this Lens is using USM Motor.

Anyone knows the reason WHY is that so ??

Haha, I came from the film era, where we didn't have the luxury of having an instantaneous view of the pics shot. :)

My wife thinks like your friend, she always complains that I'm too economical with the shutter button...:)

The silver ring under the focal length markings (EFS trade mark) is also gone.
