7D or 5D Mark II?

So if I were to be asked, my answer is, if you can afford it, go full frame :) If not, of course, the 7D will be a great camera. What can I say, it's currently the best Canon crop in the market.

Yes, agree with your sentiment..... if one already thinking and thinking of FF, then no point getting another crop.... for sure few months down, the itch for FF will return...... the diff here is, you got the mola to get your 5D2, many congrats on your purchase, I yawn for FF but no $$$ for D700......:sweatsm:

Actually the price difference if the 2 bodies is around S$1k and these are really 2 different bodies for different usage. Personally I feel that for general usage, 7D is a better buy due to

1. Faster and more advanced AF, hence easier to use
2. Needless to buy longer less as it benefits from 1.6x
3. "King of the crop" in terms of details per pixel.
4. Much cheaper battery grip
5. More features and better build, good for bringing it around with less fear.

I guess the choice of 7D and 5d2 will also depend on how satisfied the buyers with their previous/current camera bodies.

If you are happy with a 50D, then you might want a 7D coz the 5d2 will be a downgrade in terms of speed and AF performance. With 5d2, you'll gain a lot with IQ and ISO but you wont be happy with AF and speed. With the 7D, there is zero downside. A bit better IQ, better ISO, better AF, faster fps.

If you are happy with the 40D, 500d and other older bodies, then you wont know what you are missing in terms of AF performance and speed. The 5D2 IQ will blow you away and you wont even think about 7D.

Haha, guess there's a few who shared the same dilemma as me. Glad it's now out of my system. Really, I now don't have that "what if I had went straight to a 5dm2" issue bugging me anymore. For those who aspire to get one, I hope you get there one day and get there soon. This cam is one I can keep for a long long time!
