I saw it in Taipei at NT$24,800 with tax whichi is SGD$1,200...24months warranty in Taiwan.

Hi, at which area/shop and did you see this in Taipei, and did you see it recently? I was told it's now out of stock there. The tax can claim back as a tourist right? Thks

It's a SONY Shop at Kai Feng, and you can claimed the Sales tax at airport for anything above NT$3000

Their VAT is 5%..Yes, I can still see the lens displaying there, not sure if they have any unopened one.

Thks very much for the info. It's out of stock in Hongkong at the moment, so Taiwan seems to be the closest alternative, albeit price a bit higher, and cannot convert to tourist warranty..

I doubt so, I'm looking at it now only restricted to Taiwan service centers. Anyway, it's 24 months warranty and price is NT$24,800 with Tax and can use credit card.

Oh my.... It's not bad at all. Ok, focusing is not as fast as, say, the 24-70 SSM. But it's still much faster then the old 75-300. And it's quiet. And sharp. Very very sharp.
