I have the f2.8 and I love it. I too shoot outdoor sports and concerts. A fellow friend of mine that shoots together with me using the f4 told me that he should have invested a little more to get the f2.8. So it all depends on you. You have to decide if you will ever be put in a situation that you will need that extra stop. It makes a lot of difference when the time comes for that perfect shot but you were not able to get it just because of ........... you know what.:cry:
