Hi all CSer.. Just wondering is the white version of 70 - 200mm F2.8 is a limited edition or normal edition.. Its seen like the white version is very rare.

how do u camou by the way?

For me VR is probably next to the best thing if I am to shoot at low ISO. Cranking to high ISO might be a solution but compare a high ISO photo with a low ISO photo I think one can tell a difference immediately. Usability wise ... of coz high ISO photo are still acceptable ,but ....

I recently compare a shot between a 17-55mm F2.8, and a 18-200mm VR. Both set at ISO 100, so naturally shutter speed was in the range of 125 to 180 on a normal day. Not sunny nor cloudy, just a nice weather. Shot both of them wide open, VR IS able to give you consistently SHARP images whereas for 17-55mm, get ready and breathing technique all comes into play. If you are tired, needs to pan around till you're dizzy or something of a stunt act, I reckon the amount of usuable shots even with a F2.8. And really, at 18mm, one has to pixel peep inorder to tell the difference between 18-200mm and 17-55mm, I.e if you shot really steadily with a lens without VR. Or maybe it's just me.. ;p

So For me, ya...VR is indespensible when you want to shoot quickly. I play around with low light very often, and even in 17 or 18mm, VR helps ALOT. :)

i have a 105mm 2.8 macro. the focusing distance is very different from 105mm 2.5. have you check the focusing distance of mark 2 sigma hsm 70- 200mm f2.8 macro ?

i might be buying a 80-200 locally or fly to HK to buy 70-200 if the price is much lower. anyone knows where to buy nikon in HK?

Initially, i wanted to get a 85mm 1.4. but it will distort for head and shoulder shot(shoot too close).

in terms of distortion if any, is 2xTC on 85mm same as "170mm"? or distortion is purely because of close shooting distance.

i am having a dilemma,
I wonder if i should get the new mark 2 sigma hsm 70- 200mm f2.8 macro or the Nikon Af-d 80-200mm f2.8

The macro sigma closest focusing dist. is 1m and thats quite uselful when u need to "Macro". Though it loses to the basic sigma lens 18- 200 macro at 45cm!!!!!!!!

Read the review of the 70-200mm on dpreview and it states that it has "Dust and moisture sealing". Does anyone know if the 80-200mm has the same feature as well. Tired of seeing dust in my lenses.

Nope, only newer lenses have rubber sealing like 18-70, 18-200, 12-24, 17-55 DX. Btw dust will still gets into the lens even if its new.

You can't escape dust! Dust is everywhere (except those highly dust protected area). It even exist way before we are on this planet (I think).;p
