70-200mm lens

although there's not really a lot of lens choices for Pentax frames but at least most of the lens are pretty good.
Dont have to scratch head over which lens to buy

Could be that our mount is in lesser numbers and that is the reason for it being so high in price.

I realised this problem also when i was trying to get the 10-20 but i suppose it is down to market forces. Not a lot of lenses up for sale unlike there could br 3,4 canon17-40 for sale in a day

Still, the price difference between mounts is quite huge! For that kinda price I'd expect the latest OS version. I've never asked around in shops but is the price difference that great when bought new in shops as well? Or just on the resale market?

Reason for looking at 70-200 (maybe even 60-250) is because I found that I mainly use 130-180mm during my shoot.

Do you shoot/plan to shoot a lot of sports? Since you have the 50-135 it seems like quite a lot of duplication eh, two large 2.8 tele zooms? Anyway I feel that 70-200 is better than 50-135 for sports as the DA* focus speed is slow being a micromotor rather than ring-type. Also, more reach is always better, especially for amateurs without sideline access at all events.

Doesn't seem like Pentax mount lenses are more expensive than other mounts for first hand, even though it is quite difficult to get it first hand as well as there was only one shop in the whole of Funan with only one copy of Sigma 10-20 which I wouldn't think it is considered a rare lens.

Rare lens could be those already phased out and no more sales liao. Now 16-45 can call as rare but 10-20 I just got not long ago with filter 800+. If not fussy 55-300 should serve you well in upcoming zoo trip if not you now still got time buy air ticket fly go HK grab and come back within a day see if really worthwhile hahahaha

Lol I'll shoot people shooting animals, anyway it is for the experience of joining the outing and meeting new friends!

55-300, I had it until last night.
It's a good lens, but AF speed is soooo slow.
Missing some action with this lens.

The DA55-300 is a mighty fine glass. I second that the AF speed is atrocious, due to the extremely long focus throw and sometimes it tends to get lost. I wonder why they had to make it so long. The good thing is that it has quick shift. I would normally 'assist' the AF by manual focusing somewhere near and let the AF do the fine tuning. Once the focus point is in sight, AF minor adjustments are actually pretty quick.
