70-200mm f4 L IS lens

And I believe problem of back-focusing varies from copy to copy, cant really conclude fr one that it will be the same as the rest ya? So the issue here is how do you avoid getting a bad copy at the moment you purchase the lens....:think:

I have both the EF70-300 IS and the 70-200 f2.8 IS ...sold both and brought the 70-200 f4 IS....

I love the weight, build and the IS of the f4 IS. As I find my f2.8 a while elephant to me, cuase i dont need to shoot at f2.8 and the weight is not favarable for travelling.

I used to travel with my EF70-300 and now with the new f4 IS... the EF have to go.

I had already tried a grey set and I had 70-200/2.8IS and EF135/2 L from another friend already.
70-200/4IS:135mm section F4 same as 135/2L's F4, most surprising is 200/4 is much sharper than non-IS version on tripod with IS shut down and also little bit sharper than 70-200/2.8 IS L's 200/4 on tripod. so you can imaging it will be much better when IS-on....

sorry you mean at 135mm and f4 setting, 70-200mmf4IS is sharper than the 135mmf2? :bigeyes:

my test shots.... only nit is loud IS compared to last gen's IS....;p

70mm, f4, iso800, 1/2s, handheld, is mode 1, focus distance 1.5m thereabout...

100%crop

200mm, f4, iso800, 1/40s, handheld, minor pan cos follow fish, is mode 1,
focus distance 5m+....

100% crop

Woah, after boosting the iso to 800 already still requires 1/2s to properly expose for the shot... but looks sharp enough to me

I think you'll be hard pressed to really see any difference.

I would find the f4L IS better than ur 70-300 due to better IQ, better build & better focussing (f4L features ring USM and FTMF while 70-300 is just a micro USM)

Comparing f4L IS and 2.8L IS, i have no personal preference... Each to it's pros
