70-200 2.8 IS pricing

anyone got a good quote recently. a friend was interested.

was at AP photo, asked the guy there. he quoted me $3600!!! :bigeyes: i told him that was ridiculous and most places were pricing around 2900 but he was adamant that was the price. he said canon list price was like 3700 or something.

dunno, what kind of fool he think i was. oh, and his 135mm F2 price was 1600!

went next door to john 3:16 and got quote for 2900.

the current price for the 70-200 F/2.8 IS L is around $2900.

The lowest I got was $2875 at MS Color (in Dec).

i cant remember if he had spectacles. but he had to consult their price lists etc.. most other places these kind of common lens they should know by heart.

anyway, dunno what they are thinking. how to make money like that. most anyone who buys those kind of lens will shop around and will know roughly what the ballpark is.
