600si or dynax5

Hi,

After posting up my wtb ad, im now choosing between a dynax5 (wif a kit lens) and 600si (wif a 70-210/4). and i need a robust body...but cant afford a dynax7/9.

so which one shud i get?

i used 600si b4, is a great camera... the feel, the controls are good...and with a vertical grip it looks like a pro....
dunno much abt dynax 5....

I suggest you handle the camera before deciding.

For dynax 5 / 7, you can have a feel at the minolta service centre at Funan 6th floor.

I like dynax 5 for it's compactness and weight.

And dynax can make use of minolta remote wireless flash, not sure about 600si

suggest u look into eos 300v. light compact and take great pic. Now there is promotion.

600si can also do wireless flash. It has the classic design (dial style not button pushing) and is semi-pro grade with it's available functions. Dynax 5 is newer though and the body is more compact.

EOS300??? He's deciding between Dynax 5 and 600si. For value for money EOS300 doesn't even come close. As for quality...i'll always be biased! :bsmilie:

I used to own the 700si. Its a great camera! But wait a min...I used to have the Dynax 5 as well! Personally...I preferef the 700si. Better built. You can grow along with it. The dynax 5 is small. Try putting a 70-200 2.8 on it...wait a min, better not! It might break the mount! :bsmilie: Just kidding!

Personally...if you want convenience and a compact camera the 5 is the choice. New technology and compact. Otherwise choose the 600si. hope this helps...oh! And never never think abt N or C! hahahah

The Dynax 5 has ADI. But both 600si and Dynax 5 dont have rear sync flash.

No matter what camera u have to choose, it boils down to skill.

Yes...but to be constructive for our friend who is seeking help in choosing a cam...the least we do is share our experience of the cam. As for the skill of the photographer...its best to hold that constant. Of course, as a beginner...using an F5, or Dynax 9...maybe even 7, or EOS 1 might be an overkill...but still i don't think skills should really be considered. Lets just compare camera to camera. Cheers!

If both packages are going for a similar or close price, then the 600SI with the 70-210 f4 is a much better choice IMO.

yup i agree, i use the 600si and it is tough. recent consumer models really can't fight with the 600si in terms of ruggedness.

taken a look at 600si...and its oversized for my hands. tink will go wif dynax 5. would like to bring it wif me on my travels. thx everyone for de insight.

Great choice for a camera. You will love its size its function and form factor. Great battery life too!!!!!....

I got a Canon 10D, But I still like my 700si ..... So I guess I would vote for 700si instead of Dynx series .

isn't it like comparing a 300v vs a 1N? one is pro but old tech, one is consumer but improved...
but iso think u'd really enjoy the dynax5 more... can use one hand to hold LOL...

In terms of handling, the 600si is near perfect. Two dials; every control easily accessible; relatively bright viewfinder. And, affordable. However, the camera is dated. No 'D'; and that the SSM lenses will not AF on it, for example.

My main gripes are its poor AF (due to non-cross center AF sensor) and lack of AF illuminator, which hurt its AF even more in low light.
