5D Users: Does Your Lens Shift Around Throat?

I was helping my wife take some pics with her 5D, and notice that the lenses (18-70 & 90mm) shift a little (very slight) around the lens throat. It seems the focusing motor's screw (which connects with the lenses) shifts in its hole. Is her 5D missing anything to keep the screw from sifting around, or is it natural to all 5D?

cheers,

Comments, anyone? Cheers,

not sure what you mean, may be can post a phot and indicate which are throat and screw?

Hi, sorry if message is not clear. No time to take pic so I will just try to explain again.

Simply put, after I lock her lens onto the 5D, the lens can still move a little (very slight) if I give it a twist. Very slight, like less than 0.5mm sort of "slight". Not really an issue I suspect, since focus still takes place. She just need to know, for reason of technical writing, that this is "normal" on all 5D.

it does able to shift that tiny bit, but I still don't get what the screw part.

My 18-70mm lense which came with the Dynax 5D shift slight on the lense mount also its build is not as good as my 28-80mm. Sometimes it will loose contact. I did not have this problem with my Dynax 5 which came with 28-80mm lense. Note the lense that came with the Dynax 5D is from China. The Dynax 5 lense was from Malaysia.

Sorry, think I used a vague term. I was referring to this:

The one on my wife's 5D is able to shift about in its hole, which I believe is the reason why the lens can twist a slight bit.

At the end of day, it's probably standard and nothing worth bothering about. She just needs to confirm for reason of technical writing.

yes, I try my KM 5D, that protuding thing can move a bit indeed.

No problems with that. Even my 300mm f2.8L IS shifts on my 1D

Hi ... my kit lens and the 75-300 shifts as well.

Looks like it's normal.

Cheers!

Thanks people, that's about confirmed the technical bit. :D Many thanks once again to all! Will close thread now...
