5D MkIII Rumours

I'd really want canon to make an EVIL actually... smaller sensor, larger than point and shoots, smaller than APS-C called APS-X!!!! with a 2x crop factor (NOT THE SAME AS M4/3) with a 2:3 aspect ratio.
Canon EF-X 14-35 f2 IS <== that would actually be possible because of the small sensor size
Canon EF 70-200 f2.8 would become 140-400 (lol)
basically the same as the Olympus lenses for M4/3... I'm trying to stop myself from just going and getting a PEN and a 90-250 f2.8 =(

Why would you want to do that? The 90-250mm f/2.8 from Olympus is 4900 USD on Amazon. The Canon EF 300mm f/2.8L IS is 4340 USD and with a 7D you get a 480 f/2.8 or a 670 f/4 equivalent (with a 1.4x Extender). You get much faster focusing and fps to boot.

My dad is shipping for olympus well.. might as well get 300 2.8 haha or maybe a 120-300 But you must admit, The Olympus 4/3 system has some pretty dam nice lenses... f2 zooms that i envy so much!!

f/2 zooms are nice, but you get the DOF equivalent of f/4 zooms if you were using FF.

although i dont think that canon will really make an extreme upgrade to its 5d2 because the 5d2 is nearly on par with the flagship 1ds3 and should d 5d3 be just as good as the 1ds3 then consumers wouldnt give a second look at the 1ds3 should the 5d3 be just as capable of doing what the 1ds3 is capable of cept for a lower price :l so definitely not getting my hopes up that high haha

I feel the same way, although I like the bump in MP's because it allows more room for cropping. I've had to buy a few external hard drives in the last year just to keep up with the photos!

I predict a Canon 1Ds MkIV and a Canon 5D MkIII in 2011. Seems like safe predictions.

I also predict a new 7D MkII this year. Riskier prediction but I think that there's room for an incremental improvement with this model.

It should be launched this year right?

I hear the 5D Mark III is actually the Camera to end all Cameras.

But Canon has to sell the 1D Mark IV, so it has made it slightly crippled so that the 5D Mark III will not end the 1D Mark IV.
