5D Mirror Drop Out

My count should be in the 10K's liao, still ok but this is the 1st time I heard that the mirror fell from the 30D

Hi guys, got my mirror glued back today at CSP. No charge for it. Took them two hours to get it done. A little bit longer as I got them to clean the CMOS and also replaced the focussing screen due to some dust and stain. I urge all 5D's owners to consider sending it to CSP to look at their mirrors before it dropped. The technician said that most of the glued mirrors seldom come a second time.

Seems like it was only yesterday this happened to me.

As per previous post made on the 1st page of this thread: so far so good. Never had a problem. Minding you, my 5D's mirror came out in my studio.

Mine also dropped out abt 2mths ago, twice, only after sending in my cam for cleaning. Ever since, the lead tech gave me a new mirror and stuck tons of glue all over the mirror piece for me after I warned them.

As his advice also, once the mirror got glued in, dont use it for the next 24hrs for the glue to be firmly dried.

Also, check your lens in case there were glass bits on the back element. Make them check it.

Think I have made a right choice to hold back for mk2...did the technician mentioned 'seldom' ? I can't afford to take a single chance...

my count erm.. should be reaching 55-56k and still going strong :bsmilie:

my camera has been through..
a. 5-10 degrees climate
b. lots of beach-related events
c. a few offroad hiking trips and 1 rock climbing trip..

How much did you pay to clean sensor all together?

They will not dare to say 100% lah wait sway sway drop out again then you complain say so and so said will never drop again ......how...:sweat:

If the camera is a tool in which you make a living out of, you'd better have backups.

If your main is 5D and back up is also 5D then siao liao both mirror might drop out if backup is 30D then also might drop out This looks bad on Canon :sticktong

anything can go wrong with technology, not only cameras.
so really depends on ur luck ;p
theres no way to prevent it from happening.

my area is as hot as sg now (minus the humidity).. reaching 30s maybe 3-4 times a week..

by any case.. i shall WAIT again.. for the 5D replacement.. :sweat:
