Hot subject = Mirror drop out :bsmilie::bsmilie::bsmilie:

maybe i was taking picture under the sun for like 20 mins?

The mirror of my 5D dropped out on the first day of my a 3-day shoot in KL and Ipoh. I didn't bring any backup camera and teh mirror actually dropped n hit the hard ground and chip off some portion of a corner.

I wasn't quite panic and guess what, I used some old Blue-Tac and put the chippy mirror back in place and continue my shooting.

The mirror dropped out every 50 shots or so especially when I shot the founder of the company in vertical mode. And eventually, the black paper mask under the mirror also fall off. What to do? More Blue-Tac sandwiching in between the mirror and the black paper mask and I did manage to complete the job with my agent having 3 black lines on his forehead.

After return home, i sent in my 5D attached with a nice love letter to Canon requesting them to have the cracked mirror replaced. That was in 16th November 2007. And guess what, I only got my 5D back TODAY! Despite of all the due respect support to some working photog like me, Canon did a lousy job on the gluing.

I heard the same thing from an assistant who happens to have a 5D. Perhaps his mirror didn't drop off and hit the hard ground, so he got his 5D back in 4 days.

I'd strongly suggest Canon to stock up more mirrors for 5D or some backup cameras for the working pro coz the lame excuse for the not having the mirror and have to wait for the shipment from Japan is simply unprofessional.:thumbsd:

I'm beginning to miss the built quality of Nikon if not for this mega pixel madness.

To remember this occasion, I shall re-name my 5D as 5D BT(Blue-Tac).

My 30D also had this problem, so next time must bring back up camera for important event.

wa.. glue takes 4 days... cannot leh.. weekends need to shoot event :(
