5D Mark III vs 5D Mark II for ISO

WOw, thanks for sharing those links! It answered the two questions uppermost in my mind. DxOMark results had the 5dmk3 much inferior to the Nikon D800 and I was very disheartened until I saw these 'real life' tests! 5dmk3 is the new king of low light! Just goes to show, you have to take any test with a pinch of salt. Once again THANK YOU. I am now saving money for the 5dmk3. (My wife hates you tho)

I feel that nikon limit Its d800 to a smaller group who needs special needs like more pixels, super dr at low iso, raw video output, etc

While 5dmk3 is a more rounded everyday use, everything also can, do it all well, camera.

In this range, D800 is pixel king. D800e is sharpness king.
5dmk3 is iso+speed king.
Guess Most average hobbyist will choose which one?

just bring your camera everywhere you go and keep shooting. especially when there are other cameras around. let the pictures speak for themselves. the 5dmkIII is very easy to shoot - even on all-auto - and for that makes anyone a better photographer.

the advancing low light capabilities opens up even more opportunities e.g. natural-light situations at home, where taking a pic was a considered a silly idea before. just try ... you'll be surprised at the results. so will your wife.

I did a compare between these two model for ISO between 3200 to 6400.
5D Mark III does not seem to improve, similar amount for grain / noise over 5D Mark II.
5D Mark III does not seem to be cleaner over 5D Mark II for ISO between 3200 to 6400.
What is your commend.

Funny. I have the opposite results from you. are you comparing jpegs or raw?

Canon EOS 5D Mark III review: Noise and dynamic range | from TechRadar's expert reviews of Digital slrs/hybrids

here more measurements. generally:

5DmkIII > 5DmkII
5DmkIII ~ 1DSmkIII

and generally for higher iso:
canon > nikon

Another great head to head comparison. I'm quite happy to see the 5dmk3 is only about 1/2 EV less dynamic range than the D800 using RAW @ISO200-800. I thought it would be a LOT less but it's pretty comparable and not worth fussing about.
