At such bad economy, we need all Singaporeans to spend more $ to boost the economy too.:)

Of course, just spend within your means and not be in-debt to the banks for years!

To TS, since you have already decided to get the camera...I am sure the salesman will be more than happy to let you try the 24-105mm to see if you like it.
If I were you, I will get the 24-105, unless u need the extra F stop for low light.

Then again, the 5DMkII noise control is already brilliant, so boost up your ISO more and shoot with F4. I reckon there should not be much of a problem.

Buy Buy and Buy!!!

I jumped from 1000D to 5DMKII in 3 mths!!!

Agreed about getting the body and 24-70mm/f2.8L lens separately is a good idea. However, weight wise, the 2.8 is heavier than the 4.0L, by quite a bit.

I don't think the price of 5DII differs that mch from shop to shop.

As for the kit, my advise is get it, if later yo udon't like it, can sell at BNS for the price difference.

Have fun with your C5D2

Also, just for the record, I jumped from 400D to 5D2.

I am worst.

450D 40D 50D than 5D mk II

I think there are alot of jealous people or people with too much time on their hands in this forum. Very sad. How can someone be so presumptuous as to think you know a person by the way they are posting their question here.

Beside who cares if he needs it or not. Offer the help if you have any or else just don't reply. Seems like a forumer has to know his stuff before posting here. If thats the case, who would post questions. Come on guy, offer helps if you can and want to but don't criticize them for wanting a very expensive camera. For all we know, TS could be a millionaire who is a novice in photography. weren't we there before. where would we be without forum like this.

fwiw i jumped from 450D after 2 months to 5D2. no regrets.

i got myself a 450D and it do alots of wonders. and i decided to go for better cam =)

if it can do "a lot of wonders" already, why do you need an upgrade?

If he is a millionaire, he can just buy and try. don't like, can put in one corner of his house. Note that he is asking for the cheapest place to get one..
"i just want to ask where can i get the cheapest 5DmarkII in Singapore?"

and should i get it a set or i just get the body only? which one is better? thanks for sharing

you don't even know what you need, and would be willing to fork out 4k+ based on a review?

i buy mine from cathay... and most of the shops sell about the same price + - $100.

i realized in this forum, there are always very negative replies to very simple questions. The replies are always you can do this and you can do that with what you have, why buy... well, this is a person's hobby and if he has the means and feels he want to experience a different equipment, why not. and if you didn't have that equipment, how will you know what are the possibilities you can achieve with that?

why all the nay saying?
And please anyone can post simple questions and get direct simple answers

i had tons of fun experimenting with my 5DMKII!

Maybe he is a 'kiam siap' millionaire, who knows. But then who cares. This is a forum where we get to learn stuff. How do you do that if you don't ask.

Some people just want to jump on new members for not knowing stuffs but I don't get it.

But on a lighter note though, there was this other forum and one guy asked a really silly question about car engines and even drew up a diagram to back up his question. It was so silly that almost everyone who answered jumped on the TS from the get go. I really LOL!

I also think so...haha..we need more people to buy on impulse, then regret it...so that we can more and cheaper options in the BnS section!!!!

Think of it...aint I right?

there is a 2nd hand one for sale on BNS

Grain Pixel is right. I like shopping at B&S. Always see latest cameras and gadgets being sold by users who bought them but decided not what they wanted. Keep them coming.

As for TS, you won't regret buying the 5D2 and besides. If you decide to sell, canon gears do hold up their prices quite well in the used market. Although EF lenses have much better resale value as compared to canon body. That's why I am going for L lenses these days. Can at least recoup 80% of my investment if decide to let go. Just my 2 cents.

I'm eyeing with the 5D II also.I had received quotation from MScolor & John316 1 week ago, the price is $3750(w/GST body set) and $3800(w/GST body set) respectively. It's still too high from my targeted price. I'm decided to wait till year end, hoping it will drop further by then.

For the kit lens and if you decided to aim at the 24-70 focal length, may be you can consider the latest Sigma 24-70 HSM. Review as below:

Well, it's quite a detail review. You need to use some web translator to translate it into English.:dunno:

looking at the pictures and comparing with your eyes need no translator.

First of all i need to say Thanks =), and this reply i made non related to the question i asked but i just want to share with you guys what i got.
i don't really care much about what they say. So far from my experience in clubsnab contain a lots of unhelpful members, i know what you guys going to shoot again, "If clubsnap so unhelpful why you still in here? GET OUT OF HERE! haha..", well the reason why i still inside clubsnab is simple because currently i still base in singapore thats why i chose to stay in local forums which i might find will be easier for me in some aspect,

well i MUST AGREE NOT every one of the member are like that. there are quite alot of kindhearted members as well, to help up and giving a constructive comment instead of criticize. and trying to helping out a greenhorn photographer out.

sorry if i sounds rude, but this is how i feel. perhaps this is what we call culture shock..

And okay, i guess i know what to do get already thanks guys, really thanks alot for your help. can lock this post already.
cheers..

Hi Tahugoreng,
wow.. so many reply... anyway my advise kit lens, get 24-105mm rather then 24-70mm/f2.8L. You do know that 24-70mm f2.8 is already stop production right? :) we (a group of my ah-moh friends) feel that the 24-70mm although is a bright lens, but the speed and IQ is rather not as good a 24-70 f2.8. 24-70f2.8 at 24mm wide open, the picture suffer softness.

oh, I am 1ds range user... Got my 5D mkii recently .... well those bro here who got it, some disappointed... some happy... so they just advice that camera is just a "tools" to take photo. So don;t take it too hard.... :)
And all canon series camera have their pro & cons. I am those start from "35mm nagative" to digital age photo hobbits... What I want said is you see the bad side of 5D mkii. Learn to deal with it and use as creative ways :) & you love 5d mkii.

if you're keen to fully utilise the HD Video the 24-105L with IS would be good for handheld shots.

early models 24-70 had softness issues wide open, but later models certainly fixed it or there were better QC later. For versatility and to utilise the most sensitive focussing crosshairs you'll need the F2.8 lens or better. a new 24-70L may be in the pipeline, but based on recent history, high chance it will much more pricey.

I have both :) and have found difficult to part with either, as my young kids require me to use both lenses at what they're best at - they're really two different instruments !
