The viewfnder of km5d is quite wide infact most of the time having trouble viewing the all infor present inside
the 30% reduction in magnification does actually help to counter this prob

it very tight.. tighter than the original

Anyone interested in the pop-up shade?? Seems tt it incorporates the viewfinder extender + LCD protector + sunshade all-in-one... costs USD $34.99 (abt SGD $56??)

the viewfinder extender has some glass in it that makes the finder smaller, so that it's easier for people wearing glasses to see the whole viewfinder from further away.

i'm not sure if the delkin shade has this. if it doesn't, all that happens is that the eyepiece part of the shade forces your eyes even further away from the viewfinder, making it even harder to see all of it.

OT a bit:

i've tried one of those nikon eyepiece magnifiers with my 5D, but have decided i prefer it without. the magnification is nice, cos it brings the viewfinder to almost 1x size, damn big. the problem is that 5D eyepoint (the distance you can be from the viewfinder and still see everything) is already quite poor, and adding the accessory makes this even worse. even if i press the camera hard against my face, i cannot see all four corners of the VF at the same time. it is VERY annoying when i'm trying to frame precisely. (plus the nikon fit is quite loose, it drops out a lot. $13 eh-7 ok lah, but $38 dk-21m... er...) i don't know if magnifiers work better with the 7D

i would like a big viewfinder, but in the end i think the 5D viewfinder is a good compromise. any bigger, cannot see everything. of course the 7D is better lah, but what to do, get what you pay for.

With 30% smaller size, it makes manual focusing more difficult and probably hard to check focus accuracy as well. Just my thought.

no prob for manual since the af point will indicate whether a subject is in focus or not once u half press the shutter
as pai mentioned
the km5d view finder is larger than most of the dslr i known of...how many of u here can actually view all the information/data inside the viewfinder when put yr eye close to it?
unless i move my eye few mm away from the viewfinder i won't be able to view all the infor at the same time
will show u guys in the next kmos.

Some sample pics taken just now

that was done along time when i bought my cam ....
for decorative purposes...heh heh
nothing to do with the extender;)

can sandpaper away the word Canon :bsmilie:

What is the magnifcation? Does it obscure the data in the view finder?
