i'm on a crop body and i intend to use the 85 f/1.8 for street candids. what u guys think?

Just got the EF 50mm f1.8 II found it not really that good .
Was thinking of upgrading to EF 50mm f1.4 USM or EF 85mm f1.8 USM,
which should I get. Main purpose to take my baby photo.
Using a 500D body...Thanks

i dunno what you meant by the 50mm f/1.8 ain't good nuff...

but personally, i have seen great baby shots prints even from P&S, and, frankly, all the technical aspects are the last thing you bother when looking at a good shot on prints.

so my take is to understand and make use of your current setup... unless this is the window to get new gears heheheh :)

I've a friend who uses a 70-200 with 2x converter for street candids too. IMO it's all right for 85mm.

yeah, i think at 85mm i'll be pretty close to my subjects. =/ well, i've to consider my budget and arrange my priorities. after selling my 55-250mm today, i've got no long range capabilities anymore. 135L is considerable too yeah?

Yes 135 f/2L is all right too.

Nowadays, I used the 85mm most of the time for portraits and baby shots. IMO, it is just nice for a toddler, and for adults, its great for half to 1/3 body shots. I am very comfortable with the standing distance from my subjects when shooting with the 85mm.
