50mm F1.2L and 135mm F2L

If you're referring to the lens diameter, then yes there is some correlation because f/stop is a ratio of focal length to aperture diameter size. For instance a 50mm f/1.2's aperture is

50 / 1.2 = 41.67mm

So the minumum diameter of a lens has to be 41.67mm. That being said, most lenses still have other mechanisms and stuff around the aperture assembly which means a larger still outer diameter.

Simply put, a larger aperture lens will be bigger in size overall than a smaller aperture lens of the same focal length. But if you compare the OM 50 f1.2 and the Canon 50 f1.2L, the Canon is much larger than the OM lens. So does it mean that it is brighter than the OM lens?

Both the 50mm 1.2L and the 85mm II 1.2L are 72mm in diameter.

I guess the canon one will perform better in low light conditions? As with the point surrephoto brought up?

thanks, and yes, they are on 5D.
Hopefully it gives TS a nice idea on how 135L works
The focal length is pretty niche, but the results are usually amazing...

u must have stand quite far with your 135 to shoot or u crop your shots?

no cropping done.
for 1, I think it was around 3m away from the subject,
for 2, it was pretty close, about 1.5 - 2m. It was indoor in a KFC restaurant and there wasn't a lot of space to work with.

took this with my 135mm yesterday. a little tight indoors but the bokeh is to die for!
