Don intend to bring a tripod as too packed there. I just want to take a few family pictures and maybe some of the themes there only.

the 28-135 is way too slow, even with IS.

50mm f/1.4. Since you not intent to bring tripod .. may be can lean against something will taking the pictures.

imho i go for the 28-135. its easier to do family shot with background. and i think you can easily survive with a fill flash + ISO400-800 using widest aperture to get the background exposure.
like you say the place gonna be very crowded, a 50mm prime might restrict you sometimes.

Shooting night scene, IS preferred.

Get an external flash if u yet to have one already..

Oh no, seems that the votes/comments are a bit separate. Nevertheless, still listening to all advises before deciding as surely do not want to bring tripod and bag along.

Hi for me i go for 50mm 1.4 have test it lastnite at chinatown :bsmilie: , for the extra info to share here is 50mm 1.4 stock is running real low and most of the shop out of stock onli have 50mm 1.8 , i drop by cp yesterday they onli left 2 copy of 50mm 1.4 and got no idea when is the next shipment , so i got 1 copy for myself , for those who looking for it must act fast

Ya also want to know. I bought mine last week at Hong Kong and considering to sell it off as my brother going to give me a 50mm 1.8.

Any idea, how much can it fetch? Only used it when trying out in Hong Kong and waiting to use it at Chinatown.
