50mm 1.8F vs 35mm 1.8F

35mm f1.8 lens on a DX body is not consider wide lens.

Preferable to us may not be preferable to you. I suggest you test both lenses to see which your own style prefers.

You can easily borrow/rent the lenses. Both are fairly cheap and common in Singapore.

I just want to take some nice sharp portrait picture with creamy blur background.
Wonder if 50MM or 35MM is better for this.

From Catchlights link, seem like 35MM is better bet.

if you can fork out the extra, 35mm has of course better fov on apsc compared to 50mm prime.

Depends on what u intend to use it for..

On D90 i find both indispensable.. diff purposes..

totally agreed... i using both for different purposes. 50mm for more of a above shoulders shot, 35mm for full body portraits

Longer focal lengths are usually better at subject isolation.

i have the 50mm but would prefer the 35mm cos find the 50mm abit tight at times, n the 35mm would be more versatile, but it's more ex than the 50mm, if u have tight budget get the 50mm, if more budget get 35mm, but no budget constrain get both!

How I wish if I can get both or one zoom wide lens for 2 in 1 if any

For portrait, the winner is 50mm.

If more for street, 35 is better.
