50D user....come in!!!

you have to host it somewhere like flickr or photobucket. then copy your photo link, and click on the mountain logo at the second row of your message box, and paste it. preview your post first to check before posting. ;)
I've tried input the URL Add from Flickr but can't view my photo in the preview...only a small box with a cross :(

In that case, it might be possible that you set it to private photo when you upload on flickr. check the settings...

Hi to all 50D user...I too am the proud owner of the camera. Looking at the list...I'm number 175

Upgrade from 450D. Am trying to attached my photos to the link. Currently using 100mm Macro and 18-200mm. Thinking of getting the 50mm f1.4...any suggestions or feedback on this lens? It will be more for indoor photography as I use the 18-200mm more for travel and outdoor shoot.

indoor 50mm too tight, you may like to try 35mm instead, is cheaper too.

2 or more Hot/dead pixel spotted on my 50D during long exposure. only appear at the ISO 400 above. . do you guy's think i should remap it at csc? still under warranty.

Put on lens cap, doing a manual sensor cleaning mode and wait for 1mins without removing lens or lens cap. Then switch off. Should fix it. If it doesn't, you can use the long exposure noise reduction function.

tried alot of time's for this manual cleaning method but it's not working. hmmm, even if i send back to csc for mapping. sooner or later the hot/ dead pixel still will come back again right? correct me if i'm wrong.

Hi all 50D user...

I'm #176 in e list (if not Wrong), bought it 3weeks ago with kit (18-200).

Upgrade from canon G9 n this my 1st dSlr...
Having problem with my 50D, hope to get help...

1) shooting landscape, most of e photo out of focus n not sharp. Setting : F8 to F22

2) when shooting portrait, I want e person n background to be on focus n sharp but end up either person n blur background or person blur n focus background. Setting : F5.6 to F16

3) night shoot also not as sharp n focus even using tripod...

4) when shooting close up object, Item focused but shutter not release, it is e object is too close? Cos I try shooting far not problem.

Please advise, thanks;)

1) I have no idea why they are out of focus unless your AF calibration is WAY off but very unlikely. And do not go smaller than F11 if not your images will not be as sharp due to light diffraction.

2) it depends on your subject-to-background distance but if your subject(person) is too close, your BG will inevitably be out of focus. If you want a nicely focused subject and background, you shd stand far away enough and use F8 to F11 depending on lighting conditions.

3) sometimes you may have issue AF'ing during the night but as long as you focus on a light source...it should lock on almost instantaneously.

4)seems like your subject is closer than the minimum focusing distance. Thru the viewfinder, your eyes may see it as focused however the camera deems it as OOF so it will not fire. As long as your AF point doesn't light up, it wont fire

Thanks zarray for the reply, im a newbie on DSLR. the setting is very different from my G9.

1) Maybe I used up to F22 that's why my photo not sharp at all. I used as low as F22 because I search online for landscape shoot setting, mention the lower the more focus and sharp for landscape.

2) Yap, you r right. my object(person) is closer to me and background far. Due to background object too big so in order to get full capture of background object, the person need to stand nearer to me so that person wont look too small in photo.
(but i have no problem with my previous G9)

Is there any setting for focus I can use in order to get full focus for this case?

3) For night or day shoot, if using auto focus, better to use center-weighted average or evaluative?
dunno if you're confused or not, but "centre weighted average" and "evaluative" are settings related to the camera's metering system. It measure the amount of light at particular area going into the camera to determine the shutter speed(if using Av mode) or aperture(if using Tv mode) so as to obtain a proper exposure.

There's no setting for the AF except for manually selecting your focus point.

Most of the time I'm using "M" mode. So does it matter for the metering system? because I have full control of exposure.

If you're in Manual mode then yes, whatever you select spot metering, evaluative or centre weighted average does does not affect the outcome.

OIC... thanks...
