500mm f/4 envy... :(


If a local got that amount of $ to buy, will he? Sg limit wildland, bring to zoo or bird park for our sleepy animals? Carry to africa, might tio block from getting onto plane. Furthermore, every time go there no need $ is it? Unless that person is a millionaire (10m n abv) n a loyal sony user. Else i see no reason for him to get. Maybe we all come out 1k ea, get it n then book it when needed. :p

when that someone is keen to shoot with a 500mm, no matter how expensive they will also save up to get one. Sg does have lots of places to shoot wild life, it's just to see how lazy the phg is only. even a HDB cat also is also nice to shoot. U dont have to be a millionaire to own a 500mm, get a life.

I agree with you that in Singapore.. 1 may not have much use for these kinda lens as compared to other countries. But still it can be very useful in the Zoo, bird park or birding...moon etc whatever..

If he/she find it useful, want or need..will buy it. Be it rich or not.. Most can simply save up to buy 1 eventually.

Dont need to be millionaire.. with you saying something like that...seems like you will be a sour grape for whom-ever owns 1. Come on. 17k? 20k? whatever... Yes its very expensive..But its not 200k or 2 Million. Come on.. (wait a min..nobody say he/she has to go Africa anyway...)
 

You forgot to say that the Samyang is fixed aperture.. And optical quality is incomparable..Haha

Well, was just trying to show that 500mm lenses are not that expensive and no one said that AF is a pre-requisite.

But of course, good is not cheap, cheap is (mostly)not good. There is of course, a huge difference btw the 500mm f4 and Samyang. But photography is always a matter of making the best of your resources right ? :)

Prime lens not for daily usage and often people will buy n sell after some time. Unless u that person is rich or got high usage of this lens, i dont see why one should get one n let it become white elephant. I rather him go africa to take photos of elephant with it better. :p

...... you don't need a 500mm to shoot your HDB cat ........ just need a 50mm and a can of sardines ......
