50-200mm lens

and it is K mount (which means it cant take my DA kit lens?)

K mount can still take your DA kit lens. You still can use your kit lens on it but it is useless due to the lack of an aperture ring on DA lens. You will not be able to set aperture. Have to use manual and meter with the AEL button. Better use external flash also.

That's the biggest drawback of the DA range of lenses - no aperture ring!!!

Get a manual 50mm prime?
Even f1.7 or f2 (which is much cheaper than 1.4) yields f3.4-4 with the 2X factor...

9-11.2 is fine for macro. It's just going to be a little hard to focus..

I'd have to disagree with you here - the quality is likely to be poor. Going by Snowywolf's situation of using a zoom lens, that f9 or f11 you get when using the macro converter is if you're shooting wide open! And we know most lenses aren't the sharpest at max aperture. Difficulty of focusing isn't the only issue, exposure time is likely to be very slow unless illumination is by electronic flash, which adds another set of issues.

Actually if you want to do dabble in macro, forget using zoom lenses. Better to get a prime lens. Even a 50mm f2 will yield better results than using a zoom. Easier to focus, easier to get an idea of magnification and better image quality.

as alan suggested the solution and creampuff already highlighted the disadvantage with your kits.

So personally (what i will do with your kits mentioned) i will use the TC with tokina 28-210mm. Use focal length 28-70mm and set aperture (turn aperture ring) f/5.6, f/8 or f/11. Press AEL button to meter to get correct exposure. Use a tripod or good support cause exposure time is likely to be slow. (the internal flash flash can help to push up the exposure time but might cause vignetting on that zoom lens).

When you recieved your TC, play with it and see how best you can make use of it with your kits and see the results. Isn't that one fun part of photography, trying out, experiment and learn.

he offered great advices and i think i'm more or less hunting for a 50mm F1.7 A now...

interested in getting my Pentax 50-200? Its in mint condition. I am selling it because once you have 'tasted' the Pentax f300 f4.5, no other tele zoom satisfy you anymore. Not a bad lens or anything, but can't be compared (obviously!)

thanks for the lens - a good piece of lens that meet my purpose. Test it at home last night and it works fine. I'm amaze by its compact size, almost the same as the 18-55mm kit lens.

actually K10D's viewfinder is quite bright
i can see the outlines of the picture that i'm taking even if i have my R72 IR filter on..

funny there is always times where all good stuffs appear at the same time. Your extension tube and there is a Voigtlander 125/f2.5 also.
