hi all,

anyone here using 5 reel tank to develop their film?

i am considering to get one and some advice would be great!

since there is quite a lot of developer to be poured in, i would think that the bottom roll will get more development time. is this difference significant?

How would the bottom have more time? You will agitate as usual anyway. If not, you can always roll it. I do that with my 4x5 tanks.

that's what i heard. coz when u pour in, the bottom reel starts developing first mah. by the time reach the top, maybe time difference of 30 sec? no?

Wont make a difference. :D

Can one obtain such a tank locally?

Hi, I use this all the time.

No problems at all. You can buy this from ruby.

That is excellent!

The tank can be used for less than 5 rolls right? Just fill with less developer/fixer?

I belive the 5-roll tank does not come with any rolls.

I have about 35+ rolls backlogged right now and I'm thinking of either the 5 or 8 roll tank.
Where can I get the film reels seperately?

Ruby has it, but not in stock for now.

Oh, for your question, there shouldn't be any much difference.

You see, if you pour your developer in, the bottom part gets the fluids first. Whereas if you pour it out, you 'empty' the bottom part first. Ten seconds isn't very significant anyways, unless you're developing your film under 3mins (!).

I use a 8 and a 5 tank . No problems at all :)

I just got a 5 tank reel from ruby. previously i was using AP and the reel has bigger lips to glide the negatives in.

The new one from Patterson has very small lips! 135 still can managed but my first roll of 120, i spend like almost 1 hours fiddling in the dark bag:confused:last 2 frames scratched so badly lor:(

anyone using the smaller lips reel? got any good tips to load 120 film in?

Got the 5 tank as well.

Never shot 120 before so I can't help you with that.

I always align the lips and guide the film with my fingers. Feels easy for me, tried the AP reels but it feels awkward for me.
Make sure the lips are aligned, and use your finger to guide the film and make sure it goes under the lips.
